The students worked hard to created an electromagnet using a D batter, copper wire, tape, and an iron nail! Most were successful, but some were INCREDIBLY successful... see for yourself!

Two students focused on the design of their electromagnet.

Mrs. Gueringer observing a successful electromagnet created by the two students pictured!

The students were excited about showing me their progress!

These two girls tried revising their design to be more powerful.

These two boys worked together to create an electromagnet that met the requirements and was functional!

The student above used many coils to generate more energy throughout his magnet.

Focus is key! The students above were determined to pick up the most paperclips.

One, two, three, four, and their magnet still picked up more!

Even though most magnets only picked up one paperclip, some students were relentless in striving to pick up more!

He took the prize for picking up an AMAZING eleven paperclips!

Sitting down, standing up... students realized patience, determination, and a steady hand was the perfect recipe!

A few students working towards creating an electromagnet that was functional and powerful!

It's electrifying!
